  The M40 sniper rifle is a bolt-action rifle used by the United States Marine Corps (USMC) for long-range shooting. It has been in service since the 1960s and is still used by the USMC today. The rifle was developed as a replacement for the M1C and M1D sniper rifles that were used during World War II and the Korean War.
