On June 6, 2021, an incident in Ua-dong, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeollabuk-do, occurred when a 38-year-old woman, identified only by her surname Kang, stabbed a 22-year-old man A 34 times with a knife in a studio apartment.

The perpetrator and the victim dated for about a month and a half from August to October 2020. The perpetrator was obsessed with the victim and often visited the house if he couldn't reach her. The victim was mentally stressed by the perpetrator's obsession and stalking, and appealed to acquaintances to break up, but the perpetrator continued to cling and stalk for seven months after the breakup.

At 11:45 a.m. on June 6, 2021, the perpetrator broke into the studio where the victim lived and stabbed the victim to death 34 times in the chest and neck after drinking when the victim did not answer the phone. The perpetrator rolled the knife with tissue to prevent it from slipping and attacked the drunk victim. The victim was taken to a hospital after the incident, but eventually died.

At the report of an acquaintance, the perpetrator was arrested at the scene, and in a police investigation, he/she has been dating the victim and his/her lover since August 2020, frequently traveling between both houses, and was planning a trip to Jeju Island at the end of June. On the day of the incident, I sent a proof shot of the drinking party taken by A to Kang, and he stated that he was angry and committed the crime because he judged that the phone number was deleted and that he intended to break up. Jeonju Deokjin Police Station applied for an arrest warrant for the perpetrator and arrested him on the 7th, the day after the incident, and the perpetrator was sent to the prosecution on the 15th.

Initially, the police and the media took the woman's statement and reported it as an article. The assailant woman has been a man and a lover since August 2020, frequently coming and going to both houses, and a police investigation stated that she committed the crime momentarily, judging by her intention to break up with her phone number.

According to a message posted on the bulletin board of the Blue House National Petition by the victim's family on July 20, 2021, the allegation that the perpetrator woman maintained a relationship with a dead man from August 2020 until recently is false. In fact, he said that he had been in a relationship for about a month and a half since August 2020. The victim's bereaved family said they don't want such false articles to be posted anymore. In addition, it is written that the victim was tired of the perpetrator's obsession and stalking, and if he could not be contacted, the perpetrator frequently visited the house and complained of stress, saying he did not want to go home to the victim's brother.

As such, a 16-year-old victim, tired of the perpetrator's obsession and stalking, asked the perpetrator to break up, but after that, the killer woman continued to cling and stalk for seven months before committing murder. The bereaved family also asked for the help of the people so that the murderer who stabbed the victim more than 30 times with a weapon could be severely punished.

In addition, on July 19, a Cheong Wa Dae petition titled "We need to disclose the identity of the perpetrator of the Jeonju studio murder case (Yeonnam murder case)" was posted, and on July 20, the victim's bereaved family posted a message on the Cheong Wa Dae petition to resolve the victim's injustice and demand severe punishment.

Also, at the first hearing on July 16, the lawyer said that the perpetrator admitted all charges and that he wanted to delay the trial once for an agreement with the bereaved families, although the fact that he was drunk does not claim to be mentally and physically weak.

On August 25, the first trial court said, "The victim died at a young age without responding to anything while sleeping," adding, "The perpetrator claims mental and physical disabilities due to mental problems and drinking, but it is difficult to accept these claims." "I hope that the perpetrator will be able to repent and atone for his wrongdoings in a state of permanent isolation from society," he said. The perpetrator appealed on the grounds that the sentence was too heavy, but the prosecution asked to dismiss the appeal, saying there was no reason for the appeal, but it was not accepted.

On December 8, a hearing of the appeal trial was held. The perpetrator said in his final statement, "I'm sorry. "I'm really sorry," he said, appealing for leniency in tears. "If you killed the victim after seeing the cell phone number deleted in the first trial, it can be seen as a bizarre case," he said. "But the fact that his contact information was deleted from the address book cannot be seen only as a reason for the incident. He also added, "I want you to listen to the defendant's story about this case."

The second trial court said, "The victim died at the young age of 22 without any resistance," adding, "The motive for the murder is nowhere to be found, and Kang's crime is even more difficult to understand because the victim's contact information was deleted and Kakao Talk was blocked." However, he said, "The lower court's sentence is too heavy considering that it is not a planned crime, that the perpetrator does not avoid responsibility for the crime, that he/she is remorseful for the victim, that he/she was evaluated at the lowest level in the adult recidivism risk assessment, and that he/she needs to balance with the recently sentenced life imprisonment." In consideration of this, the court reversed the lower court and sentenced him to 22 years in prison, saying, "Quarantining the accused from society does not seem to be the only means to prevent crimes."
