The full story of the 2015 Sihwa Lake massacre by the Koreans.

On the night of April 5, 2015, around midnight, a partially dismembered female body was found 3.2 kilometers from the Oido Pier at Sihwa Seawall in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung, toward Daebu Island. Kim Mo, 25, who was fishing with his family near Sihwa Lake, called the police after finding the torso, saying that "an object similar to a human body was floating."

Jeongwang-dong, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, is a densely populated residential area in Ansan City, and both the perpetrator and the victim were ethnic Koreans living in Ansan, tarnishing the image of Ansan, which has been tainted by various incidents and accidents. Although it is not directly related to Ansan City, it is closely related to Ansan City in that Siheung City itself is a residential area in another city, and the case involves Koreans living in Ansan.

At the time of discovery, the body was not decomposed, but only the torso was found, with the head, arms, and legs all cut off. After the discovery of the dismembered body, the Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency and Siheung Police Department immediately formed an investigation headquarters and launched an investigation.

In addition, three riot police teams were dispatched to search the area around Sihwasumun Gate to find the remaining parts of the body.On April 6, an autopsy conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation revealed the following: The victim was believed to be an Asian woman in her 20s to 50s with blood type O.

She had an 8-centimeter surgical scar on her intestines; surgical evidence of arterial stenosis on her chest extending to about 23 centimeters; three burn marks on her posterior lumbar spine from moxibustion treatment; and one on her left shoulder. The victim had eaten food believed to be chicken and bell peppers about six hours before his death, and his body had been dismembered with a sharp tool.

In response, the Siheung Police Department's investigation team distributed wanted posters with the victim's characteristics and is cross-checking with organizations such as the National Health Insurance Service to confirm the identity of the surgical specialist among the missing persons.

Based on these characteristics, the team began the process of identifying the victim, and decided to compare the victim's body with the DNA of the family of a missing woman in her 20s and 50s who was reported missing on the 1st of this month.

However, as it is estimated that more than 10 years have passed since the last surgery, medical records may have been discarded, so it is difficult to confirm the identity based on the surgery records alone. On the day of the incident, a citizen called the police at around 8:21 a.m. and reported that he saw what looked like a wig yesterday.

The victim's head was found 30 meters away from the parking lot of Sihwa District Development Memorial Park at around 10:10 p.m. on the 6th. The victim's face had an eyebrow tattoo and dental treatment marks on his left canine tooth. Police announced that the victim's head was in relatively good condition, allowing acquaintances to recognize his face.

Police found the victim's wrists and ankles at 10:20 a.m. on April 7 and plan to take fingerprints from his hands to confirm his identity. They also created a composite sketch of his face using the victim's head collected the previous day and distributed a wanted poster.

The wrists and ankles were found in a black plastic bag along with two plastic gloves, but the hands were not damaged enough to prevent fingerprinting. The black plastic bag was found in a rocky crevice about 80 meters from where the victim's head was found, towards Daebudo.

Meanwhile, police collected footage from more than 60 CCTV cameras installed at the entrance to the Daebudo road from Oido and four cameras on the opposite side. They screened about 1,600 vehicles that passed through the area on the 4th and 5th of that month. Also, two 100-liter garbage bags were collected nearby when the torso was first found on the 5th, one of which had the victim's DNA stuck in a knot.

Police believe the dismembered body was initially placed in the bags and then washed out to sea. They are attempting to trace the origin of the bags, which reportedly have no serial number. Police also collected dozens of petroleum products nearby for analysis.

The investigation moved quickly, with nearly all of the victim's body parts found within a few days.In terms of identifying the suspect, police took fingerprints from the victim's hand and confirmed the identity of Han Mo, a 42-year-old Chinese compatriot woman living in Ansan. Her fingerprints were found to be registered with the South Korean Ministry of Justice upon entering the country.

Ms. Han entered the country alone in August 2013 and listed her mother and husband on her immigration declaration. The cell phone she used was registered in her husband's name, and no missing persons report had been filed for Ms. Han. As a result, police identified her husband, Mr. Kim Hae-il, as a prime suspect in the murder and began tracking his whereabouts.

Arrest of suspect Kim Hae-ilPolice have released the real name and face of Kim Hae-il, a suspect in a heinous crime, based on the Special Act on the Punishment of Certain Crimes. On April 8, at around 10:35 a.m., police made an emergency arrest of Kim Hae-il (47-Chinese national) on suspicion of murder and tampering with a corpse on a road near Factory A in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung City. The previous day, police identified Kim Hae-il as a prime suspect after confirming the victim's identity, and caught him on his way to work that morning when he dumped a bag containing the victim's body parts at the roof gate of a villa where his niece lives.

The bag contained the victim's arms and legs, which have yet to be found. Mr. Kim Hae-il, who arrived in South Korea in 2009, had been working at a factory in Siheung Industrial Complex. Kim Hae-il met with reporters after his arrest during transportation and said, "I committed the crime by mistake after arguing with my wife. I regret it now," and said, "I committed the sin of dying in front of my wife." Although Kim and Han were not legally married, they were considered common-law partners.

Hae-il reportedly carried garbage bags containing dismembered body parts on his bicycle on his way to and from work and left them near Siheung Dam on his way home. He confessed that on April 1, he had an argument with his wife at their home in Jeongwang-dong and killed her with a blunt object, strangled her, dismembered her body, and transported it by bicycle to Siheung Dam to dispose of it in stages. The distance between Kim Hae-il's Jeongwang-dong home and Siheung Dam, where the victim's body was found, is about 8 kilometers.

"My wife kept nagging me to deposit money into her Chinese account, so I killed her out of conviction," Kim Hae-il said, explaining why he fought with his wife, "I promised to save money in her Chinese account and buy a house later." The police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident with Kim Hae-il and apply for an arrest warrant, charging him with murder, tampering with a corpse, and abandoning a body. They also plan to investigate the scene. On March 24, 2016, Kim Hae-il was sentenced to 30 years in prison after the Supreme Court rejected his appeal.
